(Wat Nah Tham = A temple in front of a cave)
This temple is located at village, Muang district, on the way to Hat Yai, 8 kms. form town. People usually call it Wat Nah Tham because there is a cave in this temple with a big ancient reclining buddha inside. It is 81 feet 1 inch in length and estimated to have been built in the year 757, Sriwichai Era. It is also believed that this Buddha image was originally built as Narai in his head. Later, alterations were made to make it a reclining Buddha. This temple is one of the three most important and most reversed places in the south : the Nakorn Sri Thammarat Stupa, the Chaiya Stupa at Surat Thani and this reclining Buddha. In the cave, there are also beatiful stalactites and stalangmites.
In 1986, This cave was voted the most beautiful naturla tourist attraction in the southernmost province of Thailand. Not far form the area, there is another cave called "Tham Miued" (dark cave) which also has a lot of beautiful shapes such as curtain and the Erawan's head. Crystal clear water seeps out of the rocks. At present, lights are installed to make it easier for tourists to see.
